SEDALIA, Colo. (CBS4)– Colorado Avalanche Vice President of Hockey Operations Joe Sakic hit the links on Thursday for his annual golf tournament benefiting the Food Bank of the Rockies.
This is the 18th year for the Sakic golf outing at the Sanctuary Golf Course in Sedalia. In those 18 years, the tournament and dinner has helped provide 17 million meals for children across Colorado.

Pretty soon fans can look forward to the hockey season and it’s something Sakic and the team are looking forward too after what happened last season.
“I know everybody was real disappointed the year ended when it did. We ended up with 90 points, it wasn’t good enough. We’re in a tough conference, real tough division, probably the toughest division in NHL and I know players realize you’ve got to start from Oct. 8,” said Sakic.
